CANSail is a nationally recognized, progressive Learn-to-Sail program that builds a strong foundation of core sailing skills. At CIYC, sailors advance at their own pace aboard our Zest and Quba sailboats, mastering key techniques before progressing to more advanced challenges.

The Youth Sailing Committee is thrilled to announce another exciting season of Youth Sailing in 2026. This year, we're adding some exciting new twists!

• Advanced Youth Program – Early Summer
  Our two-week program for sailors aged 14 and up and/or those who have completed CANSail 2 will be offered at the start of the summer. This intensive session is designed to help experienced youth sailors sharpen their skills to prepare for regattas hosted at CIYC

• A Week for Racers
  Think you’ve got what it takes to lead the pack? Finish the summer with our Race Week. A high-energy session focused on sharpening tactics, boosting speed, and putting your skills to the ultimate test. Whether you’re aiming for the podium or just love the thrill of competition, this week is all about pushing limits, learning fast, and having serious fun on the racecourse!

• Four Weeks for Sailors of All Levels

      In 2025, nearly 50 young sailors took to the water—many joining us for multiple weeks and progressing through

      new CANSail levels thanks to the extra time, practice, and confidence they gained.​

In 2026, we’re building on that momentum with four weeks designed for sailors of every skill level. Whether they’re stepping into a sailboat for the first time or working toward their next certification, each week offers the perfect balance of fun, learning, and on-the-water adventure.

We can’t wait to welcome even more youth sailors in 2026 to experience the excitement, growth, and camaraderie that make Cedar Island Yacht Club such a special place to learn to sail!​
